Biography

Jim Rise received his BSME and BAME in 1986. Just after graduation, he was a Herbert Scoville Fellow in Washington, DC, working with members of Congress. His career has been with Tektronix-now Xerox-in inkjet printing.

After a training program in manufacturing, Rise has played major roles in color printing advancement and development including, among others, Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Systems Manager, Program Manager, and Director of Product Development. Rise is presently Vice President of Solid Ink Products for Xerox, a position he has held since March 2001.

Rise holds 17 U.S. patents involving imaging, ink-jet architecture, phase change of inks, pressure fixing material, and other aspects related to color ink jet printing.
